Incorporating balanced meals, regular snacks, and proper hydration ensures sustained energy and well-being. With mindful choices, achieving a healthier lifestyle is within reach.

Healthy Habit Hacks

We all know what healthy eating habits can bring you—a strong body that functions well, a robust immune system that protects you from diseases, and yes, even a more vibrant appearance that boosts your self-esteem.

To become the best versions of ourselves, we need to take a look at how and what we eat and change our mindset to how we approach food.

Here are some steps you can take to start nurturing healthy eating habits:

Go for a Kitchen Adventure

Give eating out a break and start cooking your own food! Not only is it a healthier option, but it can also be a great way to bond with your loved ones.

Explore new flavors and cooking techniques. Experiment with spices and recipes from around the world. You might just enjoy the cooking process together and create new memories. And if you prefer to be a solo operator in the kitchen, you just might surprise yourself and discover a new favorite dish to prepare!

Get Quirky with it

Planning your meals ahead of time is a great way to maintain healthy eating habits. Start by figuring out what you want to eat—you can opt for colorful food or comfort food, or themed days like Meatless Mondays, or perhaps start by identifying versatile ingredients.

Make sure to also have enough food containers to keep ingredients fresh or store food cooked in bulk, so that some days can just be about savoring leftovers. Check out the my menu planner here. (Link to the my menu planner services)

Start Making Healthy Swaps

What’s one food that you simply must have? Whatever that is, there is sure to be a healthier alternative to it! It's important to understand what triggers unhealthy eating patterns, so you can make simple and sustainable changes.

One simple switch you can make is choosing to have fruit for dessert, instead of sweets with refined sugar. If you usually drink whole milk, you could try switching to skim milk for a healthier option. If you usually add a spoonful of sugar in your coffee, try gradually reducing the amount of sugar you add until you can drink it without any sweetener. Remember to be kind to yourself and take it one step at a time. Small changes can lead to big improvements!

Keep Your Plate Colorful

Try to create a colorful and exciting dish that includes all the important nutrients your body needs. It's always a great idea to mix up your meals and eat a variety of fruits, vegetables, and legumes every day.

You may also consider having two servings of fruit each day—not only will this help with digestion and prevent overeating, but it will also keep you feeling full and energized throughout the day.

Start the Day Right

Breakfast is crucial as it provides our bodies with the necessary nutrients and sustains energy levels throughout the day. Your first meal of the day should be well-balanced with a combination of protein, carbohydrates, and good fats. Some great options to include in your breakfast are eggs, fresh fruits, lean meat, whole grains, vegetables, and milk.

Go Ahead, Reach for that Snack

And you thought we were going to take this out. A healthy and balanced diet involves consuming five meals per day—breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, and dinner. This helps prevent overeating and ensures that your body receives a good distribution of nutrients. Just be sure to snack smart and choose those that are packed with fiber and other essential nutrients.

Sip, Sip, Hooray!

It is important that you drink enough fluids, whether it's juice, water, or other beverages, to keep your body properly hydrated. When your body is well hydrated, you will feel full and are less likely to exceed your recommended daily calorie intake.

Adopting a healthy lifestyle and cultivating good eating habits are all within reach—all it takes are a few adjustments you can make to everyday routines, schedules, and choices. Now that you’ve read our helpful hacks, we know you’re on your way to a healthier version of you. We’re rooting for you!
